Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them
J.K. Rowling
Unlike a regular novel, this is the screenplay of the film, written by J. K. Rowling. The story follows Newt Scamander , as he arrives in 1920s New York with a suitcase full of magical creatures that, naturally, escape and create chaos across the city. The screenplay format makes the book, from my point of view, lagged and a bit boring. Readers can clearly imagine the scenes, magical settings, and creature action while reading. The 1920s wizarding society in New York feels fresh and different from Hogwarts, with unique laws, magical culture, and tension beneath the humor and adventure.
Newt is also an unusual protagonist. He is quiet, intelligent, kind, and more comfortable around creatures than people, which makes him stand out from typical heroic characters. The friendship between Newt, Jacob Kowalski, Tina Goldstein, and Queenie Goldstein adds warmth and humor to the story.
Fairly speaking , the book was quite a disappointment for me except for its dark blue cover. As they say : Never judge a book by its cover. One weakness is that screenplay books sometimes feel less emotionally detailed than novels because they focus mainly on dialogue and scene directions. Some readers may wish for deeper character thoughts and descriptions. It successfully expands the wizarding world beyond Hogwarts while introducing memorable new characters and a darker magical era. A great read for fantasy fans, even if it occasionally feels more like a textbook. Giving it a 5/10.
Thanks For Reading!
